Start point: Busy Bee Bakery, Mountain Gate Plaza, 140 Frederick Road. From the South: Exit Route at green "Thurmont - MD MD 806 sign." Turn right at stop sign and left at traffic light onto Frederick Road. Make immediate right into EXXON Station and Mountain Gate Plaza. From the North: Exit Route 15 at MD 806. Turn left at stop sign and proceed as above. Start Box is at far right of the building, usually on a cart. After registering and picking up directions, you must drive approximately four miles to the start at the Catoctin Mountain Visitor's Center. Event Info: Daily dawn to dusk. Trail is rated 3+ and is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Hiking boots and walking stick are recommended. Trail may be slippery in wet weather.
